EVENING...

* WHAT...Peak heat index values up to near 105.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Statewide testing positivity rate nears 15%; 11,632 new cases reported

(WEEK) -- State health officials are reporting more than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases for the 11th consecutive day.

The total number of cases throughout Illinois rose to 585,248 after 11,632 more were announced Monday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health also reported 37 additional deaths, bringing the total to 10,779.

As of Sunday night, 5,581 individuals with COVID-19 were reported to be in the hospital, with 1,144 of those in the intensive care unit and 514 on ventilators.

In the last 24 hours, labs reported 90,612 tests for the virus, bringing the state's total to 9,161,453.

The seven-day positivity rate through Nov. 15 rose to 14.7%.
