...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Finding Forever: Max is looking for his Furever Home

MARION (WSIL) -- Meet Max, a 7 month old lab shepherd mix looking for his "Furever Home."

"He was adopted from us when he was a very young puppy and he was unfortunately returned just for basic puppy behaviors," says Becca Baird, Director of Finding Forever Animal Rescue.

Baird says Max has been back at the shelter for two weeks and is learning fast. "He doesn't need anything too special. Basic dog obedience is going to go far a ways. If you tell him not to jump kind of follow through and ask him to sit and just continuing those structural things for him is going to make him continue to be a great dog. He's a super fast learner."

In Max's short time with his foster mom Baird says he's already potty trained to go outside. He also seems to get along with everyone, people and other animals.

"He loves kids. He loves other animals. He would definitely appreciate a home with another playful dog. He's in a foster home with foster brothers and sisters that are dogs right now. He loves them a whole lot. He's been around a few cats. He doesn't seem to mind them at all either," adds Baird.

Baird says Max comes fully vetted, neutered, up to date on shots and micro-chipped.

"He's really well mannered. As you can see he's really gentle. He likes attention but as long as you kind of ask him to sit and watch what your doing he's very very gentle. He's gentle with his mouth. He loves kissed and belly rubs but he's got a really good temperament."

The key to any new animal addition is patience. "A new setting and a new household is scary for them but he really adjusted well to the foster home. I think as long as they provide basic structure it's not going to take him long to settle right in. He just needs that confidence that the person knows what they're doing and he just shines."
