Aviation Career Day scheduled by SIU and American Airlines

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- SIU is partnering with American Airlines to host an Aviation-based Career Day. 

The event begins with an actual flight from Northern Illinois. SIU Alumni will pilot 200 incoming students inside a Boeing 737 to Southern Illinois Airport.

"This unique experience not only highlights the strong ties between American Airlines and SIU but also showcases the passion and expertise of our alumni in the aviation field," a press release for the event stated. 

After the flight, incoming students will have the chance to tour the airport and SIU's Carbondale campus. Attendees will gain an overview of the programs offered on campus. 

The Career Day events are an annual tradition displaying the passion from SIU Aviation Alumni and students. Past years have included tours of the Glenn Poshard Transportation Education Center and interactions with professors. 

The event will take place on April 20. Registration is now open.
