CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- SIU is preparing for its 43rd annual Big Muddy Film Festival. Like many other events this past year, it's going virtual.
This year's event will include a category for films shot with smartphones and feature competitive films in four other categories including animation, experimental and narrative, along with virtual juror presentations.
The festival will feature 83 selections from 228 submissions.
"People are used to watching films on their phones, on their computers. So it'll be different, but it'll be the same quality of films that there's always has been," said SIU Mass Communications and Media Arts interim dean, H.D. Motyl.
The festival runs from March 17th-31st.
