CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) � The annual Independence Day fireworks display on Southern Illinois University's campus is returning for another year.
The City of Carbondale and SIU are coordinating the event.
City officials say the show will begin at 9:15 p.m. on July 4th.Â
Those planning to attend are advised to arrive early, as parking lots are likely to fill up quickly.Â
Multiple food vendors will be on-site before the display.
Organizers recommend that people park in the 18th and 56th lots of the Banterra Center for the best view.Â
Several streets will close before 6 p.m. to prepare for the fireworks.Â
This includes:Â
Parking lots 37 and 52 (Officials say cars must be cleared before 6 p.m)Â
Douglas Drive and Saluki Drive from Evergreen Drive to Lincoln Drive
Douglas to Arena Drives
The city advised that no one is allowed to park on Route 51 to view the display.Â
If the event is rained out, it will be rescheduled for July 5th at 9:15 p.m.
