RCCB President Sarah Van Vooren receives pitcher from Sarah Heyer with $457 raised from Confluence Books' Buck-a-Book September sales at the Carbondale Farmers Market.

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- September's "Buck-a-Book" sales at the Carbondale Farmers Market supported the distribution of dictionaries for local third-graders.

The Rotary Club of Carbondale Breakfast provides a Student’s Dictionary to every third-grade student in our local schools. It's part of a nationwide effort through .

Current RCCB president Sarah Van Vooren said, “The joy and excitement from students when they receive their very own dictionary is a highlight of our service activities.�

Confluence Books donated $475 to the effort.

The business has a table at the Farmers Market most Saturdays, selling a variety of books for a dollar each.

Each month the proceeds go to a local charity.
