CARBONDALE, Ill. -- One person faces charges in an attempted home invasion investigation in Carbondale on Wednesday.
Carbondale Police Department said on October 25, at 1:21 p.m., officers went to the 400-block of West Willow Street for a report of a home invasion.
It was first reported as three men having guns which were forcing their way into a home, police said.
It was found by police this incident stemmed from a dispute between people who knew each other.
Police said one suspect forced a door open after a confrontation. They also said one of the suspects supposedly had a gun as well, however, this was not proven at the time to be the case.
The suspects reportedly fled the area after a resident confronted them.
Police said they later found and arrested one of the suspects, identified as Marcus E. Matthews, 32, of Carbondale.
Matthews was charged with attempted home invasion and attempted armed robbery.
The investigation is ongoing.
