CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- A woman faces multiple charges after police respond to an incident where she is alleged to have struck another person with a vehicle resulting in the victim's death.

Cape Girardeau Police Department said it happened on November 25 at 7 p.m. Officers responded to the 300-block of N. Spring Street for a male who was unresponsive on the ground.

When they got there, emergency workers began treating the unresponsive male victim for serious and life-threatening injuries.

The victim was then taken to a local hospital and then later taken to a St. Louis hospital for continued treatment.

Cape Girardeau police said the victim later died on Thursday morning.

After responding to the call, detectives then started investigating the incident. Police said the victim's injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

On November 29, Cynthia Perry, 45 of Frohna, was arrested and charged with domestic assault and armed criminal action in relation to this incident. However, the domestic assault was upgraded to involuntary manslaughter after the victim passed away.

In a probable cause statement, it was said Cynthia Perry was escorted out of a bar with the victim and they then had an altercation. The statement also said she "she got into her Bronco sport utility vehicle and backed out of a parking space while the victim was trying to get into the car".

The statement said it was later learned she drove to Kansas City and said she went there because she got "lost".

Perry is currently held on a $250,000 bond.
