...Strong Thunderstorms Possible Early This Morning...

At 125 am radar indicates a few showers developing acros parts of
southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. These storms have been
slow to develop but may eventually become capable of lighting and
eventually the strongest storms may become capable of large hail
by 3 to 4 am across the area. Stay tuned for later updates and
possible severe weather warnings.

Benton woman faces drug charges after traffic stop on Christmas Day

BENTON, Ill. (WSIL) -- A woman faces drug charges after a traffic stop in Benton on Christmas Day.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said deputies pulled over a vehicle on North Main Street near East Park Street on December 25 at 12:08 a.m.

After pulling over the vehicle, the sheriff's office said K9 Vader sniffed around the vehicle and gave a positive alert.

After deputies conducted a search, they said they found Nancy Lingle, 46 of Benton, had methamphetamine and three glass smoking pipes in her possession.

Lingle was then taken to the Franklin County Jail and faces charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
