Man arrested in Tennessee in connection to shooting incident in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man was arrested in Tennessee in connection to an aggravated discharge of a firearm investigation in Carbondale recently.

The Carbondale Police Department said officers went out to the 500-block of East Willow Street for a report of person shooting a gun on December 2, at 12:40 p.m.

Once officers got to the scene, they said someone fired a gun several times which hit a home and damaged it, then they ran from the scene going north from the area.

Police said they later identified who the suspect was and identified him as Andre Woodruff, 29 of Tennessee. After authorities served an arrest warrant for Woodruff in Portland, Tennessee, he was then taken into custody and is waiting extradition back to Carbondale.

The arrest warrant on Woodruff was for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon.

Police said there were no injuries related to the shooting incident. The investigation is still active and ongoing.
