PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- A man was arrested following a collision on Cairo Road, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened on May 18 when a deputy responded to the scene around 9:45 a.m.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver exit the crashed vehicle and flee towards a wooded area. The deputy said he pursued the driver, identified as Karl Alexander, 48, of Paducah, and found him bleeding from the head. Despite commands to stop, Alexander continued to evade, the McCracken County Sheriff's Office stated.

The deputy caught Alexander in a field, where the deputy said he resisted arrest but was eventually handcuffed. Alexander was treated at Baptist Health Hospital before being taken to McCracken County Regional Jail.

Alexander faces several charges, including reckless driving, driving on a DUI-suspended license, resisting arrest, and fleeing.
