Man faces charges after deputies respond to burglary call in Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. � A man was taken to jail after police respond to a report of a burglary Williamson County.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said it happened on November 29 at 9:48 p.m. when officers went to the 1700-block of Childers Road where they received a report for a burglary at a home.

What residents there reported was an unknown male who was wearing a grey "puffy" jacket with a black sock hat and blue jeans. They said a Department of Corrections ankle monitor was also found in a pickup truck bed which was parked in the attached garage.

Authorities said the unknown man was seen fleeing from the home on foot after being confronted by one of the residents.

Once deputies got there, they didn’t find the man and residents there said he left out of the garage.

Deputies searched the area and found a man who they believe was the suspect.

The suspect was identified as Deshawn D. Matthews, and the sheriff’s office said he was serving a period of Parole at the time when the incident happened.

Matthews faces charges of residential burglary and criminal trespass to a residence.

He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
