MARION (WSIL) -- Authorities need your help finding the person who burglarized a string of cars in Williamson County.

Marion Police say eight vehicles were in the area of Winter Lane and Rae Allen Lane.

The burglaries shocked neighbors, including Bill Merrow. Merrow has lived on Winter Lane for 14 years and calls his neighborhood safe.

"I woke up at 6 o'clock, the cops had that kind of shut off. I did not think anything of it."

Marion Police say a silver Ford SUV was stolen and later found on fire near Chittyville Road. Police say the suspect involved in the theft also used stolen credit and debit cards.

Williamson County Deputy Sheriff Scott McCabe says his department sees an increase in burglaries and thefts this time of year. He urges people to lock their doors and to report any suspicious activity.

"People are looking for an easy score, sort of speak. They want to be able to look through a window, have an open door, and probably, the most important advice is to remove your keys from your vehicles."

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call the Marion Police Department at (618) 993-2124.
