Marshall County man pleads guilty to distributing and importing drug from China

(WSIL) -- A Marshall County, Kentucky man pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute U-47700, commonly known as U-4 or Pink Heroin, a controlled substance.

29-year-old Jevan Sheppard also pleaded guilty to Distributing, Possessing with the Intent to Distribute, and Importing U-4 from China. 

U-47700, nicknamed “U4,� “pink,� or “pinky,� is a highly potent synthetic opioid that looks like a white or light pink powder. A lot of times, it is often either sold in baggies or pressed into pills to look like legal painkillers. .

Researchers say the drug has around 7.5 times the potency of morphine.

Sheppard admitted to conspiring with others to district and possess U-4 over the period from November 2016 to March 2017.

Sheppard will be sentenced September 23, 2021.

The DEA, Calvert City Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, Paducah Police Department, and United States Customs and Border Protection all investigated the case, with assistance from the Marshall County Attorney’s Office and the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Marshall County.
