JACKSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- News 3 is learning more information about the murder of a West Frankfort woman.

According to court documents, Robin Renee Williams died at the hands of Michael Lee Moore.

Documents reveal Williams was beaten about her head, neck and torso, ultimately causing her death.

MORE:

Williams was reported missing in September of 2020 and her body was later found in an abandoned home in Carbondale.

While those details may be disturbing, Jackson County State's Attorney Joseph Cervantez says bringing him to justice could bring closure to the family.

"If we have an opportunity to give a family closure about what happened to their loved one, we're going to do that. Once we had a person of interest, and we had probable cause to file the charges, we took every opportunity we could not just to file the charges, but to make sure we could find the suspect and bring him back to Jackson County to face jury," said Cervantez.

Charges were filed against Moore in January and detectives from Carbondale traveled to Florida and arrested Moore, who was incarcerated on an unrelated charge in Indian River County, Florida.

Court documents say Moore he was a known associate of Williams. The prosecutor considers this to be a case of domestic violence.

Moore was charged with aggravated domestic battery and three counts of murder.

If convicted on just one count of first degree murder, Moore could see 20 to 60 years in prison.
