SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers investigated a series of vehicle thefts which were reported in the 900-block of Cambridge Drive and Stanford Drive.

These incidents were reported to have occurred during the late evening hours of May 26 and the early morning hours of May 27.

Officers examined home security footage which they say showed a male suspect trying to open vehicle doors parked in driveways. On May 28, police identified a suspect and arrested Curtis P. Williams Jr., a 33-year-old Sikeston resident. Police said he was wearing the same clothing as seen in the video.

According to online court records, Williams faces a stealing charge and is scheduled for an initial appearance in the New Madrid County Courtroom on June 2, at 10 a.m.

Detectives also say they suspect Williams may be linked to additional vehicle thefts beyond those on May 27.

Sikeston DPS encourages residents to lock their vehicles and secure valuables, and they urge anyone with relevant video footage to share it with authorities.
