Woman airlifted to hospital after stabbing in Perryville

PERRYVILLE, Mo (WSIL) -- A Perryville, Missouri woman was flown to a hospital after being stabbed.

On Monday around 10 p.m., Perryville officers responded to the 500 block of Park Ave. for a possible stabbing.

When officers arrived, the victim stated she had done to a friend's house to return some Easter items. When the victim and a witness pulled into the back of the residence, Jodi Kennedy jumped out from a hiding spot, opened the car door and began to stab the victim multiple times.

This comes after the victim reported Kennedy made multiple threats over the last week.

The victim was able to kick the hand of Kennedy causing her to stab herself in the leg and step back from the vehicle. Driver of vehicle was able to get away and call for assistance.

Officers located Kennedy in the 1000 block of Reddick and took her into custody. She was transported to Perry County Memorial Hospital and treated for her wound. She was later transported to Perry County Sheriff’s Department to be held on an outstanding warrant and new charges.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis for her wounds and is in stable condition.

39-year-old Kennedy, homeless, is now charged with Assault 1st degree and Armed Criminal Action.
