Survivor Empowerment Center names date for 'Little Black Dress' event

The Survivor Empowerment Center has set October 18, 2024 as the date for their annual 'Little Black Dress' fundraising event.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) -- The month of October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and Survivor Empowerment Center is making plans to mark the month. Celebrating survivors with their annual event, the 'Little Black Dress' will be held on October 18, 2024.

The event, sponsored by SIU Credit Union, is a fundraiser benefiting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. The event will include appetizers, live music and local vendors. And, as the name states, you're encouraged to dress "cocktail hour" style for a classy evening of fun.

Doors open at 6 p.m. on October 18th at the Carbondale Civic Center. The event runs from 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. Single tickets for the event are $50.

The 'Little Black Dress' is one of several events scheduled during the month of October to bring awareness to domestic violence. Below you can find a calendar of Domestic Violence Awareness events in October.
