* WHAT...Peak heat index values up to near 105.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ this evening.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

CARBONDALE, Ill (WSIL) � Carbondale Community High School is opening its doors for a Career Open House on March 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. This exciting event offers students, parents, and community members a firsthand look at the future of career and technical education in Southern Illinois.

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the school's newly constructed $3 million Career and Technical Education (CTE) wing, a state-of-the-art facility designed to equip students with real-world skills and hands-on experience. The open house will feature interactive demonstrations across a variety of career pathways, including skilled trades, business, health sciences, and technology.

The event is free and open to the public. Local industry partners, educators, and prospective students are encouraged to attend and explore how CCHS is preparing the next generation for success in high-demand fields.
