CARTERVILLE (WSIL) -- News 3 WSIL is proud to join with the Southern Illinois Community Foundation to help local non-profits.
Egyptian Area Agency On Aging works to help people in Southern Illinois remain independent.
"We serve the lower thirteen counties of Illinois and we provide and fund services for older adults, sixty and above and their caregivers," says Becky Salazar, Executive Director.
Salazar says they fund a variety of programs ranging from food to informational help. "A lot of people, if they don't have caregivers they don't have any outside support. If they want to stay in their home or just get by due to limited income there are things out there that they can maybe qualify for. If we can help get them linked to certain programs they can live a better quality of life at their home."
Salazar says that every donation helps and that seniors are thankful for the assisstance. "Especially, now you notice it now more than ever because a lot of them their socialization is being at the senior site everyday. They see all their friends and the staff. With COVID, being closed that's what we're hearing is everyone misses it so much."
