PINCKEYVILLE, Ill (WSIL) -- Officials with Pinckneyville Community Hospital broke ground on an expansion and renovation project Thursday.
The new facility will be more than 19,000 square feet, and will include more exam rooms, four more inpatient rooms, expansions to procedure and emergency rooms, as well as additions to Acute Care Rehabilitation. Hospital CEO Randall Dauby tells News 3 he's excited to be able to better serve the community.
"Just being able to contribute to the health care needs of the community. They don't have to go out of town to get their x-rays or their labs and all that stuff, they can have it done here, or they can have their surgeries done here instead of going to St Louis or having to travel out of town." said Randall Dauby, CEO of Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Also at Thursday's ceremony, the USDA announced the hospital has been approved for a nearly $10 million loan to help pay for the expansion.
Construction is expected to begin as early as June 16th.
