
HERRIN, IL (WSIL) --Â We're learning more about the construction of the new .
The new station will be more than 13,000 square feet. It will feature three bays, an administration area, training room, kitchen, dining room, day room, fitness area, and sleeping quarters.
This new fire station will replace the current fire station.
The project will cost $7 million with those funds coming from the General Obligation bond.
So far, crews have started to prep the site. Fire Chief Shawn Priddy says, the project should take about 400 days to finish.
