71-year-old man dies from accidental fall in Herrin

HERRIN, Ill. -- Police in Herrin are investigating a death which occurred over the weekend.

The Herrin Police Department said it happened in the 400-block of N. 17th Street where a 71-year-old man was found laying outside near his vehicle.

Police started investigating and found the man passed away from injuries he sustained after an accidental fall, along with the weather conditions at the time of his death.

Police said he was identified as Kenneth Szeredy. This incident happened a day before his 72nd birthday.

The Herrin Police Department, along with the Investigations Unit, determined there was not any risk to the community.

The Illinois State Police and Williamson County Coroner's Office assisted in the investigation.
