NASHVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Washington County, led to a drug-related incident involving a local deputy.

Deputy Vincent, with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, responded to the crash on June 1, at 9:58 p.m. near mile marker 46. Authorities said the deputy discovered a bag of fentanyl powder while assisting emergency medical services at the crash site.

The sheriff's office then said the deputy slipped on debris and was exposed to fentanyl.

The deputy then administered two doses of Narcan to himself before being taken to Washington County Hospital, authorities said.

Deputy Vincent was reported to have fully recovered from the exposure.
