Gunfire at Illinois State University prompts call for public help

NORMAL, Ill. (WSIL) -- Illinois State University Police Department is seeking the public's help to identify a person of interest in a shots fired incident.

The incident occurred Sunday, April 27, at approximately 7:40 p.m. in the Bone Student Center. University police said a fight between two groups ended with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to a non-student, who was taken to an area hospital.

The person of interest fled the scene and is seen in attached photos, police added. Illinois State University Police, along with support from local law enforcement and emergency services, responded to the scene.

Assisting in the investigation is the Normal Police Department, Bloomington Police Department, McLean County Sheriff, Illinois State Police and Normal Fire Department," said the Illinois State University Police Department.

University police said dozens of officers worked through the night processing evidence, responding to calls and tips, and providing an extra presence on campus.
