I-57 SB Lanes Back Open After Emergency Work in Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. -- UPDATE: Illinois State Police Troop 10 updated the public that as of 2:32 p.m., I-57 is now open.

May 17 - 9:38 a.m. - I-57 Southbound is reportedly shut down in the southern portion Williamson County.

An alert stated the Illinois Department of Transportation is reporting the southbound lanes of I-57 are shut down at Route 148 as of 9:35 a.m. on Friday.

Illinois State Police said the I-57 southbound lanes are shut down for an emergency road repair. They also said the shutdown is expected to last three to four hours.

Authorities urge motorists to take a detour around the area.
