SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- Troop 10 officers said they seized more than 85 pounds of cannabis during a recent traffic stop and charges for cannabis trafficking are currently pending.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) are actively combating drug trafficking with efforts to keep communities safe.

"ISP is fighting the war on drug trafficking one stop at a time, keeping communities safe," said an ISP representative in an online post.

State police shared a photo of the seized cannabis. There were multiple wrapped packages placed in opened bags on display on the side of the road.

We will have more information on this as it becomes available.
