MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WSIL) -- The race between Incumbent Joseph Cervantez and Marsha Cascio-Hale for the Jackson County State's Attorney's race has been decided.
What was a tie at the end of the election night on November 5th, both receiving 10,805 votes a piece, has now been decided after county election officials counted provisional ballots.
Cascio-Hale will soon take over as the new Jackson County State's Attorney, after tallying 39 votes more than Cervantez.
Joseph Cervantez tells News 3 he lost the election race on Tuesday night after the rest of the ballots were counted.
Cascio-Hale stated on her Facebook page, "Thank you to all who supported me in my campaign! The wait was worth it!"
