...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Peak daily heat index values up to around 105 degrees.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged hot temperatures and high humidity may cause
heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The city of Carbondale has shared a look at progress on the new Multi-Modal Station coming to the Strip.

Carbondale looks forward to new transit facility

The announcement of a new multimodal transit facility coming to southern Illinois has business leaders excited as the City of Carbondale will see a boost in its economy both during construction, and after � all while improving its transportation opportunities.

The facility will serve as a replacement for the city's Amtrak station and include a hub for bus services around town. 

The project was first announced in 2019 and is now taking shape in the heart of Carbondale's Downtown Strip. The Fager-McGee Commercial Construction group says it expects the first phase of the project to be completed by the end of 2024.
