CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The city of Carbondale has shared a look at progress on the new Multi-Modal Station coming to the Strip.Â
The announcement of a new multimodal transit facility coming to southern Illinois has business leaders excited as the City of Carbondale will see a boost in its economy both during construction, and after � all while improving its transportation opportunities.
The facility will serve as a replacement for the city's Amtrak station and include a hub for bus services around town.Â
The project was first announced in 2019 and is now taking shape in the heart of Carbondale's Downtown Strip. The Fager-McGee Commercial Construction group says it expects the first phase of the project to be completed by the end of 2024.Â
