SALINE COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Saline County experienced no loss of life or major property damage from last night's storm, officials with the Saline County Sheriff's Office reported. However, neighboring Williamson County faced significant challenges, including property and utility damage.

Saline County deputies were dispatched to assist in traffic management and route clearance after the storms hit on May 16.

"Our mutual aid was requested so I left my on-duty deputies and half the off duty deputies home, and took the other half of off duty Deputies with me to help where we could," a Saline County official said.

The deputies spent about six hours on the scene, focusing on traffic duties and finding passable routes. "I appreciate & I’m proud of our staff that was able to drop everything and willing to go help in any capacity," said the official.

Reflecting on the support received during past disasters, the official noted the importance of community solidarity. "You may remember, from our horrible tornado, the friends, neighbors, strangers, and first responders that came from all over it was good to return the favor," the sheriff's official said.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office extended thoughts and prayers to the residents, first responders, and volunteers affected by the storm.
