Another storm was on the way on Friday.
SESSER, Ill. (WSIL)-- Strong storms rolled through parts of our region Thursday night.Â
The storms left some properties damaged in Sesser, Illinois. Â
Another storm passed through Sesser on Friday afternoon.Â
With Thursday night's powerful storm leaving Jamie and Drake Curry with damaged cars, they can only hope this storm passes over.Â
“It just fell right as I was sitting here in the driveway. So as I'm hearing the thunder, I'm just waiting to see what more damage we get,â€ Drake Curry said.Â
Jamie says as soon as it started storming they received property damage.Â
“My son just walked in the door and within five minutes it hit and we couldn't really see anything. The wind was horrible,â€ Jamie Curry said.Â
And Drake said he went outside right before the second tree limb fell.Â
“Yeah, within a matter of moments, she yelled. There was a tree on top of my car and I rushed out the back door just as another tree fell, Drake said.
When the storm passed Jamie wanted to see what happened.Â
“We couldn't even get off our back deck. Our back deck's blocked in, Jamie said.
The Currys knew they needed help. Jamie sent out a call on Facebook. She asked her neighbors for help clearing the trees from their cars because Drake had to get to work the next morning.
“Everybody was reaching out, stopping by checking on us bringing chainsaws, Jamie said.
They said they were grateful to have the community support.
“It was just great having everybody come out, pull together, Drake continued.
The National Weather Service says downbursts of powerful winds caused trees around Sesser to be uprooted and broken.
One business was already in Sesser cutting down trees for people to prevent accidents from happening in the future.
Mirya Melvin cut down a large tree next to someone's home with TC’s tree service.
“They have had tree limbs fall down before, and they don't want it to get on their house, Melvin said.
Melvin says a strong wind could break or knock down a healthy tree.

“You don't have to cut them completely down, but at least trim all the limbs back so they don't get weak, Melvin said.
And the Currys say they were planning to cut their trees.
“I wanted to get that same branch that fell, cut back a little bit. I wish I would've now, Drake said.
Now, Jamie says they have to wait for their insurance company to decide if her car is totaled.
