CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Police in Carbondale are alerting the public of a detour in place on Thursday afternoon.
Police said there is a road obstruction and northbound and southbound traffic at East Walnut Street on S. Lewis Lane is being detoured.
The obstruction is due to a telephone line down causing the road blockage. S. Lewis Lane will be closed until repairs are made. This could take a few hours, the city reports.
The alert about this road obstruction came out at 1:27 p.m. on May 23.
The public is urged to avoid the intersection if at all possible.
