
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS -- Soon the weather will turn cooler and the fall colors will start to pop.
October is a great time for hiking trails throughout southern Illinois.
The will hold its third public hike of the 2024 fall hiking season on Oct. 19, 2024.
The hike will take place on the Tupelo Trail in Johnson County.
The hike is free and open to the public.
It's about 3.5 miles in length and requires about 2 hours of hiking time.
Hikers should meet at 10:00 am at the Michael W. Wolff Memorial Wetlands Trailhead.
This hike is intended for people in good health who have some experience hiking.
Hiking sticks and boots or sturdy shoes are recommended.
Hikers should bring their own water and snacks but please leave the dogs at home.
A snack break will take place after the completion of the hike next to the Michael Wolff Memorial.
There is a vault restroom at the trailhead.

Prior to participating in any hikes, the River to River Trail Society requests that all hikers read the 2023 Trail Society Waiver which can be found on the at the following link River to River Trail Society Information and then sign off on this waiver prior to the beginning of the hike. A copy of the waiver will be at the Michael W. Wolff Memorial Wetlands Trailhead meeting area for your signature.
