MAYFIELD, Ky. -- A western Kentucky man faces drug charges after authorities find suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
The Graves County Sheriff's Office said a detective pulled over a vehicle along Copeland Road at 11:55 p.m. on October 28. The sheriff's office said information they got suspects a person in the car was intending to deliver drugs to the area to sell to others.
After the vehicle was pulled over, the sheriff's office said authorities searched it and found a "dosage of units of Fentanyl, a small quantity of crystal Methamphetamine and $1,010 in cash."
A suspect, identified as Dajuan Mitrell Quarles, 30 of Hopkinsville, was arrested. He faces trafficking (fentanyl) and possession of methamphetamine charges. He also faces unrelated traffic offenses.
The sheriff's office also said Quarles "claimed that he had taken one of the fentanyl pills and had to be taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being lodged at an out of county detention center."
