PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- A new women's campus geared towards addiction recovery is coming to McCracken County.

The Lifeline Recovery Center held a groundbreaking event on Monday for a 45-acre women's campus in McCracken County.

The groundbreaking took place near the Barkley Regional Airport at 8650 Old Highway 60.

After breaking ground on the project, construction immediately began and is expected to be finished in 18-24 months.

The Lifeline Recovery Center expects their client capacity will increase by 40% after the project is completed.

The "A Campaign for Recovery: Breaking the Cycle of Addiction, One Life at a Time" is helping fund this new campus and has raised $11.6 million of its $13 million goal. This campaign which began in 2023 is expected to end in 2026.

The Lifeline Recovery Center said these funds will go towards helping separate men and women campuses. This includes a new chapel, housing, dining and educational, counseling and administrative spaces.

The men's campus in Ballard County was already outlined with those buildings when it was purchased two years ago, Lifeline Recovery Center said.

“Help us continue to be a LIFELINE for those seeking a life free from addiction, Board Chair Steve Powless said.

Powless also talked about the vision from those who founded Lifeline two decades ago.

“We are grateful to everyone who helped us get to this moment the staff, the volunteers, the donors, the board of directors and everyone who has prayed and offered encouragement, who has hired Lifeline graduates and who has lifted up Lifeline in any way.

Powless also said the new women's campus will offer more room for expansion as well.

“Our creativity has been limited only by the lack of space, Powless added, “and now that will no longer be a problem.

Lifeline Recovery Center has helped more than 2,500 people in their 20 years.
