MURRAY, Ky. -- Kentucky State Police (KSP) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Calloway County on Friday.

The KSP Critical Incident Response Team is investigating a shooting which recently happened at a home along Johnson Blvd. in Murray, Kentucky.

Police said a man was injured and was air-lifted to an out-of-state hospital for treatment.

An officer was also injured, however, the injuries were non-life-threatening, KSP said. This officer has been treated and released from a local hospital.

Murray Police Department stated police responded to a home in the 1300-block of Johnson Blvd. for a welfare check at around 10 p.m. on August 22. Police in Murray stated an armed person pointed a gun at an officer and then barricaded themselves inside the home.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office said the man who barricaded himself in a home fired a gun and hit a Special Response Team (SRT) member with Marshall County. The SRT member then reportedly shot back at the man.

The SRT law enforcement officer has been placed on leave, as per their policy.

The Murray Police Department and Marshall County Sheriff's Office requested KSP to investigate the matter.

Kentucky State Police reports their agency has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout Kentucky.
