Calloway County officials find over 30 drug plants in residence, arrest one in relation

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. -- Officials in Calloway County arrested a man in connection to what they believe was a drug production hub.

The arrest comes after an ongoing series of investigations into the home at 216 Offshore Dr. in Murray. Deputies arrested Monty L. Thompson, 54, on Wednesday in relation to this drug production. 

Officials said they tested their belief of Thompson's crimes with a sample purchase of 14 grams of Methamphetamine. Upon completing the purchase, officers obtained search warrants for the Offshore Drive home.

Deputies carried out the warrants and reported the following items found inside:

  • Half-pound of Meth
  • Large illegal Marijuana grow operation featuring about 30 plants
  • Large quantity of Marijuana
  • LSD
  • Over $6.6 thousand in cash (believed to be earnings from drug sales)
  • Digital weight scales
  • Baggies
  • Drug paraphernalia 

Officials combined these findings with records of Thompson's previous drug-related arrests dating back to 1999 to carry out Wednesday's arrest. 

Thompson now faces the following charges:

  • Three counts of trafficking Methamphetamine, 2nd Offense
  • Cultivating Marijuana (5 or more plants), 1st Offense
  • Trafficking Marijuana, 2nd Offense
  • Possession of LSD
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
