5 injured after 4-vehicle crash in southeast Missouri

MATTHEWS, Mo. (WSIL) � Five people were taken to the hospital after a four-vehicle crash on Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol stated the crash happened on June 14, at 2:10 p.m., along I-55 in the southbound lanes at the 60.8 mile marker.

State police said a 36-year-old from Fenton, Missouri, was driving a 2020 Ford Fusion going south when it hit the rear of a 2020 Peterbilt, then sideswiped a 2021 International and then hit the rear of a 2024 Ford F150.

Five people who were in the Ford Fusion were all sent to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Authorities reported two 11-year-old males had moderate injuries, a 59-year-old female had moderate injuries, and a 31-year-old female and a 36-year-old female both had serious injuries.

The Ford Fusion, International and Peterbilt were all towed from the scene by JSH.

All involved in the crash were wearing a seatbelt, state police reported.
