BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. (WSIL) -- Bollinger County Sheriff Casey Graham announced he will step down from his position effective May 1, 2025. A new career opportunity prompted his decision.

"With Amendment 6 failing on the November 2024 ballot, the instability of the Missouri Sheriff's Retirement System, and the uncertainty surrounding its future, this new career opportunity ensures a secure future not only for me but also for my family," Graham said.

Graham expressed gratitude to the citizens of Bollinger County for their support over the past five years.

"It has truly been an honor of a lifetime to serve this community as your Sheriff," Graham said.

He highlighted his achievements, including securing over $1.2 million in grant funds and fostering strong partnerships with law enforcement agencies. Graham credited the dedicated employees of the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office for these accomplishments.

Graham also thanked his wife, Kayla, for her support. "Without her by my side, I would not have been able to accomplish what I have in this role," he said.

Chief Deputy Stash Petton will take over as Interim-Sheriff. Graham expressed confidence in Petton, a 30-year law enforcement veteran and lifelong Bollinger County resident.

Graham assured the community he would assist Petton with the transition.
