One dead after vehicle vs moped crash in Scott County; one arrested

BENTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- A woman is dead after a crash between a vehicle and a moped on Sunday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened on June 30, at 9:05 p.m., along Missouri Highway 77 and Missouri Highway H in Scott County, roughly two miles east of Benton.

State police stated a 48-year-old man from Benton, Missouri, was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra going south when the vehicle crossed the center of the roadway and hit a moped which was operated by a 56-year-old woman from Benton, Missouri.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The moped was reported as totaled and towed from the scene by D & K Wrecker. The GMC Sierra was reported with moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

According to a representative with the Scott County Prosecutor's Office, one person has been arrested in connection to this incident. The prosecutor representative said formal charges have not been filed as of 2:25 p.m. on July 1.
