DONIPHAN, Mo. (WSIL) -- State police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting resulted in one person dead.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said on April 6, at 2:13 p.m., the Ripley County Sheriff's Office alerted state police to assist them in connection to a man barricading himself at a home and armed with a knife.

Three hours later, at around 5:33 p.m., state police said the man, who was armed with the knife, approached a Ripley County deputy and a Missouri State Trooper. After verbal commands to drop the knife, which police said he did not drop, the deputy and the officers shot him.

Medical aid was provided to the man, however, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no reports of any injuries to law enforcement.
