One person dead after hit by tractor trailer truck in the road in Southeast Missouri

STODDARD COUNTY, Mo. -- One person is dead after they were struck by a tractor trailer truck along a county road in Stoddard County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the incident happened at 12:58 p.m. on Thursday on County Road 477 roughly five miles north of Dudley.

Police said Lawrence Cookson, 83 of Puxico was going north in a 2000 International Tractor Trailer when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian was identified as William E. Vanover, 31 of Puxico, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the 54th death related to a traffic crash in the MSHP Troop E region.
