CARBONDALE, Ill (WSIL) -- Southern Illinois University-Carbondale is investigating allegations of inappropriate behavior by a coach, according to theÂ
Two anonymous athletes shared details with the DE about alleged abuse and NCAA violations by women's swimming and diving head coach Geoff Hanson.
The bombshell report comes days after the  for still unexplained reasons.

In October 2020, the article, says multiple athletes met with the school's Equity and Compliance Office and Jarnigan to discuss the allegations. But no corrective actions were taken, the athletes told the DE.
The report adds that parents of two athletes notified Chancellor Austin Lane about the allegations on September 7. Days later the university relieved Jarnigan as athletic director and  for her replacement. Lane told the DE he couldn't confirm if the allegations led to Jarnigan's termination.
SIU officials declined News 3's request to interview Chancellor Lane. When asked to clarify any of the allegations made in the DE report, officials referred to the statement below:
"We take all allegations seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation, following university policies and procedures. We will take action accordingly."
News 3 reached out to Hanson for comment via phone and email but had not heard back prior to airtime. The DE reports that the Equity Compliance Office is investigating the allegations made by the athletes.
SIU also placed its women's soccer coach  for unexplained reasons.
