BENTON, ILLINOIS (WSIL) -- If you love the world of sci-fi from comic books to movies and t.v. shows, this is the event for you.
is returning to the Benton Civic Center after being canceled last year over the Coronavirus, and there's plenty to look forward to.
There will be more than 50 vendors selling everything from video games to clothing, action figurines and autographed pictures. JT Wilkey, who has worked with S.I. Comic Con since it started in 2019, says it's also a great way to shop local.
"There will be handmade goods so it will be absolutely amazing for that person on your wish list for the upcoming holidays," he explains.
Then, a cosplay competition will take place with three different categories including kids who are 12 and under, 13 and up adults, and homemade costumes.Â
"You can make your own costume. You can purchase a costume," Wilkey quips enthusiastically. "You can be anybody that you want to be from maybe your favorite t.v. show growing up or maybe your favorite tv show now. Or maybe your favorite movie character. The sky is the limit."
There will also be a few celebrity appearances, so fans can meet and talk with those that they look up to:

- Wyatt Weed -- Actor in the movie Predator
- Brent Chumley -- Artist for Dungeon and Dragons, L5R and more
- Todd Fox -- Marvel Artist From The Punisher and Wolverine
S.I. Comic Con is taking place at the Benton Civic Center on Saturday, September 18th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You can buy tickets or get them at the event. Tickets for general admission are $5.00 for kids 13 -Adult, and kids 12 and under are free.
