Suspect arrested in hit-and-run incident which injured 14-year-old

UPDATE: March 11, 2:49 p.m. � Authorities said they arrested a suspect in the hit-and-run incident which seriously injured a 14-year-old girl.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said they found the suspected vehicle near the area which they said had fresh damage to the passenger side mirror.

They identified the suspect as Carly J. Sanders.

Investigators also interviewed Sanders and then arrested her.

She was cited by the sheriff’s office with the following charges�

  • Leaving The Scene Of An Injury Accident
  • Failure To Report An Injury Accident
  • Failure To Render Aid (Injury Accident)
  • Expired Drivers License
  • Failure To Report Crash To Police Authority

HURST, Ill. (WSIL) � ORIGINAL: March 11, 3:00 a.m. � Authorities are looking for a vehicle and driver after a teenager was hit on Monday night.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said the hit and run incident happened on March 10, at 11:34 p.m. along Illinois Route 149 near Hurst.

The sheriff’s office said the vehicle was going at a high rate of speed when it hit the juvenile teenager girl who was walking with a friend, then kept driving north.

The girl was reported with serious injuries and taken to a hospital.

The sheriff’s office said they have collected parts of the vehicle at the scene.

The sheriff’s office wants whoever was in the vehicle to contact them, along with anyone else who may have information about this incident at 618-997-6541 or “Submit A Tip� on the Williamson County Sheriff’s App.
