Carbondale medical group donates to ISP youth camp

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A local medical group is helping to fund the future of children in law enforcement. 

The Southern Illinois GI Specialists donated a check to the Illinois State Police to use for the Team Illinois Youth Police Camp Carbondale. This camp aims to empower today's teens respect themselves and help others. 

"This completely community funded youth camp is made possible through the generosity of people in our communities that care about kids and want to see them not just get through the daily grind, but take charge of their destinies and step up as our future, " the ISP wrote on Facebook. 

The ISP works with the Carbondale Police Department, Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center and other local sheriff's offices to put on the activities. This is the second year for the event.

The camp will occur on June 9 - 15, 2024.  are still open.
