Dorena-Hickman Ferry

PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Dorena-Hickman Ferry remains closed a week after its initial pause.

News 3 reported the closure of the ferry last Sunday, Aug. 25 due to reported dredging. Since then, the water level has been deemed too low each day for the ferry to run.

At this point, the ferry's Facebook page says the transportation option will remain closed "until further notice."

The conditions are considered abnormally dry.

The low water levels coincide with a small drought that has been hitting Western Kentucky.
