EF-1 tornado confirmed in Jackson County with 100 mph winds

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- An EF-1 tornado with estimated 100 mph winds was confirmed in Jackson County, Illinois, from over the weekend.

Officials with the National Weather Service completed the survey on Tuesday and released preliminary information. They said the tornado tracked roughly 1.78 miles long and had a narrow path of about 25 yards wide. 

The tornado touched down in Jackson County northwest of Harrison and Murphysboro. Weather officials said it touched down on the west end of Cedar Road, then traveled east northeast to Casey and Ava Road.

Multiple properties in the area of Savanna Drive received damage from the severe weather. This includes damages to barns, several roofs, trees, fences and other miscellaneous damages.

Savanna Drive is roughly two miles northwest of Murphysboro.
