Local bookstore raises money for nonprofit

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A local bookstore raised hundreds of dollars for the Little Resource Center to give to families and caregivers.Ìý

Confluence Books set up tables at the Carbondale Farmers Market throughout June. Proceeds from books sold totaled $509 and all went to the Little Resource Center.Ìý

According to the center's , the nonprofit works to provide "supportive services and evidence-based education that promotes health, safety and wellbeing" in order to "strengthen and empower families, caregivers, and youth."Ìý

The center sits atÌý801 East Walnut Street.Ìý

Confluence Books will host a similar fundraiser, deemed "Buck-a-Book" at the farmer's markets throughout July. Proceeds from these sales will go to Women for Change.Ìý

sits at 705 West Main Street. The store accepts and sells used books provided by residents. The bookstore hopes to "find the best home for every book," according to a press release from the store.Ìý
