CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- The Saluki Takeover Tour wrapped its two-week trek across Southern Illinois on Saturday at the Walker's Bluff Casino Resort.

Saturday's event concluded the tour aimed at recruiting more Southern Illinois students to SIU. SIU Chancellor Austin Lane appeared alongside the school's athletic director and new basketball coach.

CARTERVILLE, IL (WSIL) - Saturday marked the end of the Saluki Takeover Tour. 

"We went in with the idea that there is no reason to go outside of our region," said Lane. "I am bias, but we have a great university here in our backyard. It's great to see all the Salukis out here this evening." 

SIU officials told News 3 the tour covering all 17 counties in the Southern Illinois was a success and plan to make the events bigger and better in coming years.
